INDIANAPOLIS — At approximately 10:20 p.m. Dec. 3 Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers were dispatched to the 5400 block of Falcon Creek Way on the report of shots fired.
When officers arrived they found two people suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. A 19-year-old male victim was shot in the leg and taken to Wishard Hospital. A 19-year-old female victim was pronounced dead at the scene. At about 11 a.m. Wednesday, IMPD released the names of the victims a Tyana Ferrell (deceased) and Shaquille Searcy (shot in the leg).
After the shooting, a possible suspect vehicle description was broadcast to all officers. An alert Clermont Police Department (CPD) officer saw a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle description near West 38th Street and North High School Road. The officer attempted to make a traffic stop, however the vehicle fled.
As the chase was ending, two suspects inside the fleeing vehicle jumped out and fled on foot. They were found a few blocks away hiding under a porch. After the two passengers jumped out, the driver continued the pursuit for a short distance, driving through residential fences before crashing in the 1100 block of Vanceburg Drive. The driver then fled on foot and is still being sought. During the chase possible evidence was thrown from the suspect vehicle and later recovered.
This is an active investigation. Detectives are trying to determine the circumstances surrounding these incidents and whether they are connected.
