INDIANAPOLIS — Editor's note: This story has been updated to include the positive identification of the two involved.
Just before 11 p.m. Thursday, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) were dispatched to the 2800 block of North Harding Street on reference of a property damage accident and person shot.
When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive male in the driver’s seat of a gold Impala suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. EMS crews arrived and pronounced the male deceased. Moments later a second 911 call was received indicating a second male was shot at 28th St./Harding St., alley west.
As of Friday afternoon, the deceased was identified as Tyler Webster, 21, of Indianapolis, and the other victim was identified as Kyle Lewis, 19, of Indianapolis.
The caller stated a unidentified male knocked at her door and asked if he could enter the residence because he had been shot. The caller refused but notified the police, IMPD officers arrived a short time later. EMS crews immediately transported the second male to Eskenazi Health in serious condition with multiple gunshot wounds.
Witness’s stated a gunfight ensued near the intersection of Harding Street and Udell St. prior to the 911 calls. The suspect fired shots at the vehicle that was occupied by the deceased and a passenger. The passenger was transported to Homicide for questioning.
Detectives believe that the two incidents are related and are not likely a random act. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency and The Marion County Coroner’s Office arrived to help with the processing of the crime scene and the decedent.
