---- — Paul Calabro recently retired from the Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township Board of School Trustees after decade of service.
Calabro spent seven years as a teacher in MSD of Wayne Township schools, and 29 as an administrator. After that, he spent 23 more years as a board member. This summer, he decided it was finally time to retire.
He began his career with MSD Wayne in 1951. He was a teacher or principal at several schools – including Rhoades, Chapelwood, and Chapel Glen Elementary Schools – before becoming a member of the school board in 1990.
Calabro was joined by his wife, Charlene, and three sons at a retirement reception Aug. 22 at the MSD Wayne Education Center. He says retiring from the school board will enable him to spend even more time with his family, which includes nine grandchildren.
At a special meeting on July 17, the school board approved the appointment of Scott Cline to fill the remainder of Calabro’s unexpired term. Cline has also spent decades serving the district as a teacher at Westlake Elementary.
