Wayne Township Fire and Rescue personnel were called to the scene of an accident Thursday night involving a Holiday Inn airport shuttle and a large box truck.
Officials said the accident happened at about 9:30 p.m. at 1300 S. I-465.
The report states that the airport shuttle struck the rear of a Panther Expedited Services truck that had stalled along southbound I-465.
As a result of the accident, the rear tailgate of the box truck sheared off a majority of the roof of the van. The only occupant of the van had to be extricated from the vehicle, which took about 10 minutes.
Because of how the roof was ripped open, officers said if there had been passengers in the van, the “outcome of the accident would have been very grave.”
The driver was transported to Methodist Hospital in stable condition and the box truck driver was uninjured.
The Indiana State Police are currently investigating the cause of the accident.
