AES Corporation to bring up to 100 jobs to Indianapolis

IPL parent company to move headquarters here

CNHI

— Officials with AES Corporation, the parent company of Indianapolis Power & Light Company (IPL), announced this week that they will bring up to 100 high-wage jobs to the community as it aligns its U.S. operations support in Indianapolis.

“We are proud that a global company like AES has chosen Indiana as its hub for all U.S. operations,” Gov. Mike Pence said in a press release. “Indiana’s unmatched business climate, central location, and strong workforce continue to set us apart and make our state the best place for companies to expand and more effectively run their business.”

The 21 AES businesses in the United States are transitioning to operate as one Strategic Business Unit, taking advantage of its broad platform and knowledge across the country. While some new jobs will be filled by current AES employees, a number of positions will be opened to the public. Hiring will begin immediately and interested candidates may apply online at www.aes.com.

Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard said, “IPL has always been a valued partner in our community and we welcome its parent company’s expanded presence in Indianapolis. Our community will benefit from AES’ commitment to bring high-wage job opportunities to our skilled workforce.”

Ken Zagzebski has been named president of AES’ U.S. Strategic Business Unit and will remain CEO of IPL. Zagzebski will oversee AES’ 21 U.S. businesses from Indianapolis. He joined IPL in 2007 as senior vice president of Customer Operations and became president and CEO of IPL in April of 2011.

Zagzebski is an experienced utility executive with operational and financial leadership expertise, both domestically and internationally.

Kelly Huntington has been named president of IPL. Most recently, Huntington was senior vice president and CFO of IPL. She joined IPL in 2011 after working at AES’ global headquarters in Arlington, Va., for eight years.

AES’ other U.S. utility, Dayton Power & Light, will maintain its operational headquarters in Dayton, Ohio. Additional AES U.S. functions will be housed in Dayton including the competitive generation unit and commercial and retail sales.

AES Corporation provides affordable, sustainable energy to 23 countries through a diverse portfolio of distribution and generation businesses. AES globally has a workforce of 25,000 people, including 3,600 in the United States.
