The Rockler Woodworking and Hardware store on Castleton Corner Drive in Indianapolis is inviting the public to judge its recent woodworking contest, “Adventures in Wood.”
Rockler began the contest earlier in the spring to bring attention to local woodworkers and their artistic talents. The event was open to any local woodworker and was publicized with in-store posters and via other signage at area art schools that have woodworking programs. The general public is invited to view entries, as well as vote, beginning at 5 p.m. May 16 when an opening party will be held. Voting will close May 30.
“There is so much local woodworking talent and artistry in our area,” Paul Haag, Rockler’s store manager, said. “We wanted to be able to showcase and celebrate that by having a contest and what better way to share with the public than to invite them to determine who the winners will be?”
Entrants’ works will be displayed for a two-week period — May 16 to 30. During that time, store visitors and customers can vote on their favorite piece to determine first-, second- and third-place prizes. The first-place winner will be featured in Woodworker’s Journal magazine and receive a Rockler gift card. Second- and third-place winners will receive a Rockler gift card.
