Sunscreen 4 Soldiers is taking donations now through June 30 in order to purchase sunscreen and lip protectant for soldiers serving in Afghanistan.
Organizers say soldiers receive toiletries such as toothpaste, but don’t receive the sun protection they need.
The organization’s mission is to protect them while they protect us; to make sure their skin is protected while they are serving us.
Sunscreen 4 Soldiers is working with Soldier’s Angels, a non-profit agency that sends care packages to deployed servicemen and women, as well as the families that support them.
They’re buying the sunscreen and lip protectant in bulk through Mary Kay Cosmetics and will then ship it to whoever needs it. This program first started in May when a Mary Kay director decided she wanted to give back to the soldiers.
In honor of Company 1413, just deployed to Afghanistan, Sunscreen 4 Soldiers’ goal is to bless them with sun care and supplements.
A shipment of 140 suncare sets has already been collected for 1413. The remaining product donations will go to Soldier’s Angels for distribution and will be determined by current needs.
The goal is to sponsor 949 soldiers. Some proceeds will go back to Beacon of Hope Center for Women on the west side of Indianapolis, a Christ-centered crisis support organization designed to assist victims of domestic violence through a myriad of direct client services.
