The addition of a Subway restaurant will mark the official grand opening of the long-awaited service plaza at the Indianapolis International Airport.
To mark the occasion, officials from owner/operator PMG Airport Plazas will be on site from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. today to greet customers and host several promotional events.
They will be joined by special guests from other IND Service Plaza business partners and radio personality Nikki from Classic Hits 104.5 WJJK, who will be assisting with attractions including raffles, wheel spins, and giveaways of souvenir items and food samples. Prizes include Shell gas cards and Indiana state lottery scratch-off tickets with a grand prize of a 42-inch flat screen TV.
The grand opening will also feature a number of product discounts, including 10 cents for any size “Polar Pop,” coffee, small bag of chips, and Hillshire Farms hot dog; two for the price of one for any Subway foot-long sub; and half off any car wash.
“Hosting an open-house event like this is a great way to remind passengers they now need look no farther than the airport entrance for fueling, fast food, convenience store items, and even automotive amenities like car washes, detailing, and quick lube services,” said Bob Duncan, executive director of the Indianapolis Airport Authority. “Community feedback was instrumental in this project, and we invite all of our guests to take advantage of the latest improvement to the IND passenger experience.”
“We have built a cutting-edge service plaza to serve the needs of the airport and surrounding community. We are excited to see this long awaited project come to fruition, including a state of the art convenience store, traditional fuel and natural gas, a fully automated green car wash, various food options, and a light repair facility. We are building these customer-friendly plazas at airports throughout the U.S.”, said Neysan Rassekh who has been managing the development.
The IND Service Plaza features 24 fueling positions. Fuel options include all levels of unleaded gasoline as well as diesel and compressed natural gas. Carwash, automobile detailing, and quick lube services are also offered.
In addition to the just-opened Subway, restaurant options will include a Petro’s Chili and Chips location, which will open by year’s end.
The service plaza is on the south side of Col. H. Weir Cook Memorial Drive and is accessible to all vehicles arriving and departing the passenger terminal at IND, as well as to employees working at the IND campus.
A flight-information display monitor, located inside the Circle K, provides up-to-date information on flights arriving and departing IND, and the service plaza also offers a public men’s and women’s restrooms.
