The City’s Department of Public Works (DPW) recently announced that four of its seven Fleet Service shops were awarded Auto Service Excellence (ASE) — Blue Seal certification by the National Institute for Auto Service.
The city’s Riverside Light Equipment Repair, Riverside Heavy Equipment Repair, Belmont Light Equipment Repair, and Riverside Body Shop teams received this prestigious certification. To be ASE certified, 75 percent of shop employees must earn ASE certification for the vehicles they service.
“Earning ASE certification is no simple undertaking for any shop, and our entire city should be proud of this accomplishment by our Fleet Services division,” DPW Director Lori Miser said.
“With a fleet of over 3,000 vehicles, this certification demonstrates the high-quality team of service technicians working on our equipment, allowing us to better serve the residents of Indianapolis.”
The Indianapolis Fleet Services division (IFS) has 80 shop employees, and 50 have one or more ASE certifications — totaling 433 separate certifications. Seventeen of those 50 employees have one or more Master Certifications. To qualify for a Master Certification, technicians must pass a series of tests and document at least two years of hands-on experience. Among these 17 employees, IFS has 28 separate Master Certifications.
