Broadway in Indianapolis is preparing for its 2014-15 season with a host of shows including “Elf the Musical,” “The Illusionists - Witness the Impossible,” “Annie,” “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” “Dirty Dancing,” and more.
“We have programmed a season to cultivate and grow new and younger audiences,” Broadway in Indianapolis president Leslie Broecker said in a press release. “We will be offering more educational opportunities, interactive workshops and enrichment activities for students than ever before. It’s important to look forward to the future of theatre and that starts with young theatre-goers.”
“Elf the Musical” will run from Dec. 16 through 21 at Old National Centre.
Based on the beloved 2003 New Line Cinema hit, it features songs by Tony Award nominees Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin (”The Wedding Singer”), with a book by Tony Award winners Thomas Meehan (”Annie,” “The Producers,” “Hairspray”) and Bob Martin (”The Drowsy Chaperone”).
“The Illusionists” will perform Jan. 20 through 25 at Old National Centre.
This performance showcases the talents of seven incredible illusionists. “The Illusionists” has shattered box office records across the globe and dazzles audiences of all ages with a mix of the most outrageous and astonishing acts ever to be seen on stage. This non-stop show is packed with thrilling and sophisticated magic.
“Annie” will be Dec. 24 through March 1 at the Old National Centre.
Featuring a book and score by Tony Award-winners Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, “Annie” includes such unforgettable songs as “It’s the Hard Knock Life,” “Easy Street,” “I Don’t Need Anything But You,” plus the eternal anthem of optimism, “Tomorrow.”
“Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” will be April 7 through 12 at Clowes Memorial Hall.
Directed and choreographed by Tony Award-winner Andy Blankenbuehler, this new production will feature Broadway/television star Diana DeGarmo (”Hairspray,” “Hair”) as the narrator and Broadway star Ace Young (”Grease,” “Hair”) as Joseph.
