The Indianapolis Municipal Band will conclude 2013 with a series of three concerts.
At 7:30 p.m. Oct. 10, guest conductor Stanley DeRucha of Butler University will conduct the Latin-flavored Danzon No. 2. The concert is in Butler’s Howard L. Schrott Center for the Arts.
Their Veterans Day concert will be 3 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Indiana State Museum, 650 W. Washington St.
The municipal band’s final concert of the season is 12:30 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Indianapolis Artsgarden at Washington and Illinois streets. They’ll be under the direction of Daniel P. Bolin, Ph.D., chair of the music department at Butler University and a member of the music faculty. The assistant conductor is Leroy Lane. Brad Poreda is a recurring guest conductor.
Those interested in playing in the Indianapolis Municipal Band may bring their instrument and join them for a rehearsal. The band practices 7-9 p.m. most Mondays in Room 112 of Lilly Hall at Butler University. Enter the campus at West 46th Street and Sunset Avenue.
