The Ben Davis Wrestling team placed fourth at the Avon sectional over the weekend. The host Orioles won the event with Brownsburg placing second and South Putnam coming in third.
Ben Davis advanced six wrestlers into the regional round and finished with one champion and three runner-ups.
Dylan Lydy (170 pounds) won his championship match with an 11-3 major decision.
Previously unbeaten heavyweight Norman Oglesby suffered his first loss of the season in the finals, placing second. James Pritchett (113) and Nick Weddle (138) also took second.
Kasha Wilder (20) placed third and Brady Johnson (126) finished fourth.
All six grapplers move on to the Mooresville regional on Feb. 8.
PSA accepting soccer sign-ups
The Plainfield Soccer Academy is currently holding registration for its newly formed league.
The fundamental-based league will include players from 5 to 12 years of age in a 5-versus-5 format that is meant to be conducive to more touches and development.
Cost is $65 and includes weekly practices, an eight-game season, and a tournament at the end of the season. Uniforms will be provided.
