At about 1 p.m. Saturday, officers with the IMPD were sent to the area of 5600 Georgetown Road in reference to reports of several shots being fired.
Callers to 911 had indicated they heard several gunshots and that several vehicles were fleeing the area. Officers arrived and initially found no problems. Minutes later, however, they located an unresponsive male lying in the snow near an apartment building of Rosewood Commons. The victim had suffered two gunshot wounds. EMS personnel arrived and pronounced the victim deceased.
The victim was later identified as 15-year-old Warren.
According to a Fox59 interview with Warren’s mother, Nikkita Milledge, Warren was a football player in a youth league in Pike Township.
IMPD detectives have not yet released any suspect information and no arrests have been made at this time. Detectives canvassed the area and talked with several witnesses in an attempt to learn what happened just prior to the shooting. The Marion-Indianapolis Forensic Services Agency arrived to process the crime scene, and the Marion County Coroner’s Office arranged for transportation and positive identification of the deceased.
