Alien plant demands food in Brownsburg musical
The Brownsburg High School Performing Arts Department will present “Little Shop of Horrors” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Due to construction at the school, this year’s musical will be performed at the Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds and Conference Center in Danville.
Directed by Debi Prather and Megan Myers, “Little Shop of Horrors” — an affectionate, tongue-in-cheek spoof of 1950s sci-fi movies — tells the story of Seymour Krelborn, a poor young man working in Mr. Mushnik’s run-down flower shop on Skid Row.
When Seymour discovers a strange and exotic new plant, he becomes an overnight sensation and finally catches the attention of a lovely girl named Audrey. Unfortunately, the new “Audrey II” plant develops a carnivourous craving and continues to grow until it stands poised for global domination.
Can Seymour defeat the alien plant before it takes over the world?
The cast includes Phil Sloan, playing Seymour; Hannah Burris, playing Audrey; Jared Overman, playing Orin; Justin Fasan, playing Mr. Mushnik; Mary Hannon, playing Crystal; Bianca Broyles, playing Chiffon; Sarah Colville, playing Ronette; and Justin Waggoner, playing Audrey II with Terrell Sparks being the voice for Audrey II.
Making up te chorus are Trevor Fasan, Luke Lyon, Jessica Hoyer, Sean Brock, Kristen Hernandez, Hannah Bolton, James Fox, Kendra Stewart, Sam Morgan, Dalton Troy, Erika Daun, Blake Rice, Addy Brown, Jacob Burris, Jordan Klapman, Nick Lilienthal, Kristina Gleissner, Sam Houck, Bryce Conway, Rachel Moran, Jacob Farmer, Liz Morrison, Brittany Glaze, and Matt Voiles.
