Brownsburg fan hopes to see Colts do it again
By Ryan Palencer
BROWNSBURG —
The Indianapolis Colts are making their second Super Bowl appearance in Miami, and Don Peoples is doing the same.
Peoples, a Brownsburg resident and owner of Peoples Promotions, has been a Colts season ticket holder since the team’s second year in Indianapolis. He won a raffle allowing him to purchase tickets for Super Bowl XLI when the Colts beat the Chicago Bears 29-17. He lucked out again this year and is hoping his team does the same.
“I’m looking forward it,” Peoples said. “It’s going to be very nice weather. It’s supposed to be 70 at kickoff. The rest of the week it’s going to be 75 and maybe 80.”
Peoples sat in the top row for the Colts’ last Super Bowl performance, but this time will be enjoying the game four rows from the top of Sun Life Stadium.
“It’s fun going down South Beach,” he said. “They block off Ocean Drive. There are a bunch of activities. Even though the stadium only holds 70,000 people, there are 100,000 more who just go to enjoy it.”
He said he’s also looking forward to enjoying some sunshine and getting some souvenirs.
Peoples said he booked his flight as soon as he learned the Colts were Super Bowl bound.
“I got my flight right after the (AFC Championship) Jets game because I knew I was going to go,” he said. “I thought I would grab it while I can.”
Getting to Miami won’t be a problem, but Peoples return flight has its issues.
“(The flight) leaves at three on Monday,” he said. “But it goes through Denver with an hour and a half layover.”
Peoples said he’s staying in Deerfield Beach, just up the coast from Miami.
