Sam Gentry defeated Avon’s Tyler Lingle 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles and Brownsburg had a 4-0 lead.
The last match at No. 3 singles took over five hours with the delay to complete and was Avon’s best of the match. Alex Meronk dropped the first set to Brownsburg’s Same Peterson 7-5 before taking the next two sets 6-2, 6-3.
“Alex pulled out a victory and doesn’t make many mistakes,” Mize said. “We thought we’d have a chance if he played well to get a win at that position. That was the last match that went on and even though we lost as a team, we left with a good win.”
Brownsburg advanced to play Zionsville in the first round of regional action on Tuesday.
