Sprinkle drove in another run in the fifth to put Franklin Central ahead. Nick Cottongim then took over for Plainfield starting pitcher Alec Caprarella, and the Quakers got out of the frame without further damage.
More came in the sixth, however, as Jake Sprinkle drove home Ryne Carnes after a leadoff triple.
Plainfield’s Antonio Lucciola made it to second base with a single and steal in the bottom of the sixth, but that was as close as the Quakers came to scoring the rest of the way.
“It was our sixth loss, but we’ve lost to nothing but good teams,” McKeon said. “We’ve been in most of those games, and I think we’ve played well all year.”
