DeGolyer scored his second goal with 36:54 remaining in the second half. Brown made it 4-0 off of a penalty kick just over 10 minutes later. DeGolyer slid his third goal in with 24:26 left in the half to end the scoring on the afternoon.
Cascade rallied towards the end, putting pressure on the Bruins’ defense. The Cadets took four of their five shots after Tri-West’s last goal as freshman Brady Bell (2) and senior Hayden Suter (2) both tried to avoid the shutout.
Tri-West’s Lucas Rutherford, who replaced senior goalkeeper Matt Buckner in the second half, was up to the task and held the shutout.
“It was better than last year but not where we want to be,” Faulkner said. “It shows us that we still have some work to do.”
