Brownsburg’s doubles team of Emily Doehrman and Shelby Hornback defeated Western Boone’s Kaitlin Miller and Morgan Ragsdale 6-1, 7-5 Tuesday night at the Plainfield regional.
The duo advanced atfer defeating Avon’s No. 1 doubles team last Wednesday at the Avon sectional.
They will play Cardinal Ritter's Gabby Buckner and Jordain Graff.
With sectional action just two weeks away, the Hendricks County boys’ golf teams took part in the county championship Monday night at West Chase.
Avon (303) took home the county crown, Plainfield (316) came in second, Brownsburg (318) finished third and was followed by Cascade (356), Danville (392) and Tri-West (400).
Brownsburg’s Luke Kelly took home individualist medalist honors, carding a 72.
Taking all-county honors were Avon’s Mark Whipple (74), Joe Floreancig (74), Brad Patz (77) and Keegan McKinney (78); Brownsburg’s Kelly (72) and Kasey Cross (79), Plainfield’s Dylan Holsclaw (75), Ryan Schuld (79) and Johnny Gulley (79); Cascade’s Hunter Drury (79).
Girls Track Regional
Several county girls advanced from the West Lafayette track and field regional last night. Those advancing now head to the 40th annual IHSAA state meet at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 1 in Bloomington.
Athletes either had to meet the state standard or place in the top three of their respective events to advance.
The Orioles’ Malyka Abramson took third in the 3200 while hitting the state standard with her time of 11:02.10.
Avon's 4x100 relay team of Danyetta Johnson, Lanique Ellis, Monique Ellis and Hannah Heim took third in a time of 49.83.
Plainfield’s Samantha Woodford won the 800, hitting the state standard with a time of 2:16.07.
Brownsburg senior Stephanie Mavunga won the shot put with a throw of 39-04.75.
Brownsburg’s Sibong Ncube heads to the state finals in the 100 hurdles, finishing third (15.61).
Bulldogs freshman Claire Hathaway placed second in the long jump, clearing 16-09.50.
