“It feels pretty great (to have success) as a sophomore in my first varsity start,” Peters said. “I was pretty pleased. We could have executed more in the red zone, but overall, I think we did pretty good throwing the ball and running the ball. We just need to finish some of those drives.”
David Schall led the way for Avon on the ground with 74 yards on 11 carries.
“I think that (Schall) came in and gave us a good boost,” Bless said. “He was a little dinged up from the week before, so we didn’t want to overplay him and make sure that he was fine. I thought that Tijuan (Johnson) gave us some reps in there and David Griffith did too. Dave Schall really stepped it up when he got his chance.”
Avon will look to rebound from the loss when they battle Westfield on Friday.
