With the bases loaded, sophomore Lizzie Meyer blasted a 2 RBI double to centerfield. The hitting onslaught continued with sophomore Claire Johnson and senior Alyssa Clark driving in a single run each for a 7-3 advantage.
Heading into the bottom of the eighth Danville faced a four-run deficit and was unable to get a hit.
“With a win by 10-run-rule in the first game we just let down in the beginning of the second,” Tri-West coach Stacey Rogers said. “Danville let us know we couldn’t do that. We waited a little bit too long but finally we realized we needed a good inning and we went out there and got one, luckily.”
With the win, Tri-West now moves to 7-1 on the season and 4-0 in conference play. Danville fell to 2-5 on the season.
