Brownsburg High School announced Thursday that Steve Lynch will be the next boys’ basketball coach.
Lynch spent the last seven seasons coaching at Mount Vernon compiling a 103-52 record. Last season, the Class 3A Marauders went 24-2 as Lynch led the school to its first regional championship since 1991.
Lynch replaces one-year Brownsburg coach and former Butler standout Ronald Nored who is taking an assistant coaching position at South Alabama.
Before his time at Mount Vernon, the 44-year-old Lynch served as an assistant coach for new UCLA coach Steve Alford at Manchester College and Missouri State. Missouri State’s 1999 squad advanced to the NCAA tournament’s Sweet Sixteen.
Lynch also spent a season as an assistant at Ball State for current Indiana assistant coach Tim Buckley.
BHS principal Bret Daghe said in a press release that Lynch “brings every quality that Brownsburg High School was seeking in a head coach. He has tremendous values, high basketball IQ, is an excellent educator in the classroom and on the court.”
