2013 Flyer All-County Baseball team chosen

Bulldogs garner four selections, Quakers get three


Avon finished up its season in the sectional final and a 14-17 record.

Senior catcher Dylan Jones made the all-county squad for the second consecutive season and finished up his four-year career with the Orioles hitting .326 with nine doubles, one triple, two homeruns and 10 RBI.

Junior shortstop/pitcher Khristian Reynolds was a dual threat for the Orioles this year, hitting .344 with 19 RBI, 13 doubles, two homeruns and eight stolen bases. Reynolds threw 12 games from the mound with a 1.87 ERA.

Danville won its first sectional title in 23 years and finished with a 9-18 record.

D.J. Eckert returns to the all-county team to represent the Warriors having a great year from the plate and mound. Eckert threw 70 innings, racking up a 1.85 ERA and 102 Ks while hitting .359 for 23 hits and scored 11 runs.

Tri-West’s Levi Baumer makes his third appearance on the all-county team, helping lead the Bruins to an 11-14 record, along with winning the school’s first-ever county championship. Baumer tied for the county’s best hitting percentage at .475, bringing in 21 RBI.

Sophomore Ty Comer was Cascade’s lone representative on the all-county squad as the Cadets finished the year 8-18. Comer hit .366 with 14 RBI, nine doubles and six stolen bases.

Second team: Brownsburg’s Ty McCoy; Plainfield’s Alec Caprarella and Justin Martin; Avon’s Cole Johnson, Matt Betustak, and Tasker Strobel; Danville’s Seth Tollison; Tri-West’s Matt Pope, Quentin Garland and Dustin Burks; Cascade’s Colin Smith and Bailey Blackburn; Bethesda’s John Mlagan, Alec Varvel and Austin Forsythe.
