However, the Stars took momentum back, as Wethington hit Baxter on a 93-yard touchdown strike to cut the deficit to 24-21.They regained the lead for good as Zach Martin intercepted a pass from Christian Schabel and returned it 20 yards for a score.
“I am really pleased,” Western Boone coach Justin Pelley said. “We had a lot of guys beat up, so we had some young guys come in to play, who weren’t used to playing. It was just a sloppy night. We turned the ball over five times. You don’t deserve to win many games when you turn the ball over five times, but our guys answered the bell, rose to the challenge and made some big plays.”
Wethington led the way for the Stars with 125 yards on 16 carries and 97 yards through the air.
