SFHR launches food drive

Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing is launching its sixth annual “12 Days of Christmas Food Drive” to race against hunger this holiday season.

Indianapolis’ St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry will serve as the beneficiary of the drive for the sixth consecutive year.

SFHR is calling on the racing community and fans to drop off items the food pantry has a shortage of, including cereal, canned meat or fish, stews and soups (except tomato), peanut butter, jelly/jam, canned fruit, rice, pasta, noodles, pasta sauce, dried beans, box dinners, box mixes, paper products, and personal care items.

This year, SFHR will also accept cash and check donations. Checks should be made payable to St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry and mailed to SFHR, 1255 Main St., Speedway, IN 46224.

Drop off locations include Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing, 1255 Main St. Speedway; O’Gara’s Irish Pub, 522 Main St., Beech Grove; Lamping Cleaners, 1625 Main St., Beech Grove; Lamping Cleaners, 3939 S. Keystone Ave., Indianapolis; Lamping Cleaners, 3535 S. Emerson Ave., Ste. 6, Beech Grove; Handicapable Hands, 3215 E. Thompson Road, Indianapolis; Lucky’s Pub, 104 N. 2nd Ave., Beech Grove; and McGilvery’s, 3009 N. High School Road, Indianapolis.

Free IMS tours Dec. 20

Free admission will be offered to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum and the narrated track tour on Dec. 20 as part of the “12 Free Days in Downtown Indy.”

The museum is among a group of 12 leading Indianapolis-area attractions offering free admission to the public for one day in the holiday promotion presented by Indianapolis Downtown, Inc. The program provides easy access to one of the world’s premier collections of race cars, classic automobiles, motorsports artwork and artifacts.

Narrated track tours take visitors around the historic 2.5-mile oval on a bus, stopping at various landmarks around the circuit.

The Hall of Fame Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 20. For more information, call the museum at 492-6784 or visit the website at www.ims.com.
