But Terre Haute North outscored Brownsburg 13-6 in the third quarter as the Bulldogs didn’t get a basket until the 3:25 mark. Lynch said the Bulldogs were their own worst enemy in the period.
“I thought we had a terrible third quarter,” he said. “We had a few too many turnovers in the third quarter … we gave them opportunities. Again, in tournament basketball, you can’t give a team opportunities.”
With Brownsburg up 41-40, Houston hit his second big shot of the game, draining a 3-pointer to put the Bulldogs up by four.
Terre Haute North closed to within a point of Brownsburg twice more before Ringo and Walton put the game out of reach from the free throw line.
Houston (6), Trevor Lucas (5) and Jordache Mavunga (5) rounded out the rest of the Bulldogs’ scoring.
Brownsburg (19-2) advances to take on No. 15 Mooresville (18-4) at 6 p.m. on Friday at Avon. Lynch said the Pioneers have “an experienced senior class with good spot up shooters and are a strong, physical team.”
“The opportunity to get in and get one under our belt is always a good thing,” he said. “I think our guys played through some of our errors and mistakes and you hope to not repeat them in the next game. We’ll take tonight and be ready to go Friday.”
