Swimmers advance

Avon advanced its 200 medley relay team of Ana Walters, Natalie Myers, Emily Smith and Lauren Campbell into the consolation heat of the IHSAA girls’ swimming state finals today with a 13th place finish.

Avon’s 400 free relay team of Campbell, Walters, Myers and Katie Qualls also advanced to today’s consolations with a 15th place finish.

Walters will also swim in an individual consolation event after placing 15th in the 100 backstroke.

Plainfield divers Courtney Coverdale and Molly Fears also begin competition today in the diving event.

BHS football holds meeting

The Brownsburg High School football team will hold a spring meeting at 6:30 p.m. on March 19 in the auxiliary high school gym to discuss upcoming spring and summer events.

Participants should enter Door 14.

Items to be discussed include: lifting schedules, camps, physicals, competitions and information for the fall season.

All players and parents of incoming 9- through 12-grade participants are invited.

Brownsburg head football coach Brett Comer will run the event and his staff will also be in attendance for a meet and greet.

MCOSC holds registration

The Mill Creek Optimist Soccer Club has opened its spring soccer registrations.

MCOSC offers both recreational and rec plus soccer for both girls and boys ages 5 to 18 who live in the Mill Creek School district.

Individuals may register online or in-person.

The in-person registration dates, weather permitting, are Feb. 15 and 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cadet Center at the Cascade High School and Feb. 27, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Clayton Public Library.

Registrations end Feb. 27, although late registrations are accepted only if there is room on a team.
