Avon, Brownsburg East take titles
Avon Middle School captured the boys’ title and Brownsburg East took home the girls’ championship at Wednesday’s Hendricks County track and field meet.
Avon scored 110 points to top second-place Plainfield by 19 for the boys’ crown. East scored 107 points to finish 15 ahead of Tri-West.
First-place finishers on the boys’ side were Wyatt Rondot (Brownsburg West) in the 2400-meters; Evan Anders (West) in the 100; Austin Davis (Plainfield) in the 110 hurdles and discus; Howie Cupp in the 200; Kyle Stamm (Tri-West) in the 1600; the 4x100 relay team of Cam McCarty, Jordan Shirrell, Adam Keywood, and Charles Davis (Avon); Alex Parrett (Avon) in the 400; Jeffery Hopper (Cascade) in the 800; the 4x400 team of Evan Jackson, Luke Briggs, Tyler Weldy, and Parrett (Avon); Justin Stanley (Danville) in the high jump; Jerry Stephen (Avon) in the shot put; Blakelynn Green (West) in the long jump; and Ross Phillips (Danville) in the pole vault.
First-place finishers for the girls were Sydney Lesko (East) in the 2400; Megan Lambert (West) in the 100 and 200; Sabone Ncube (East) in the 100 hurdles; Veronica Goduto (East) in the 400 and 1600; the 4x100 relay team of Jessie O’Neal, Lauren DeSutter, Jordan Lightner, and Rachel Allen (Tri-West); Kyra Jo Gaerke (East) in the 800; the 4x400 relay team of DeSutter, Lauren Pfeifer, Madison Myers, and Jessie Walker (Tri-West); Hope Sowers (Tri-West) in the high jump; Katie Reinhart (East) in the discus; O’Neal in the shot put; and Andrea Kish (Tri-West) in the long jump.
