Vision loss group
to meet March 21
Hendricks County Senior Services will be hosting its monthly Vision Loss Support Group at 10:30 a.m. on the third Thursday of each month at the Hendricks County Senior Center. The next meeting is at 10:30 a.m. March 21.
This month’s speaker, Maggie Ansty, regional librarian at the Indiana State Library, will discuss the Talking Book and Braille Library.
The library provides digital audio books, large print books, and books in Braille to Indiana residents who are unable to read regular print, because of a visual or a physical disability. Ansty will be bringing applications to those who are interested in the program, which is free of charge.
The session should be of benefit to those who have dealt with loss of vision for a period of time as well as those who are just now experiencing the condition. The meetings are friendly and designed for the sharing of personal experiences, information about new technology, and the opportunity to hear from guest speakers.
Transportation is available by calling Senior Services at 745-4303.
Those who would like to stay for lunch following the meeting are asked to call the senior center at least 24 hours in advance. A suggested donation for lunch is $2 for seniors ages 60 or older and their spouses.
No reservations are required to participate in the support group and membership in the senior center is not required. All meetings are confidential, free of charge, and open to baby boomers and senior citizens.
For more information on this support group, call Senior Services.
The Hendricks County Senior Center is at 1201 Sycamore Lane, Danville.
