The staff at Park Square Manor will offer its Senior Showcase again this month, featuring another talented resident.
Park Square manor honor seniors living in the community who display talent. This month they will highlight artist Ralph Willson. His creations are made from sculptured wood, stained glass, and more.
Willson has sculpted wooden busts for each of his children and created stained glass replicas of each of their homes. He’s also made furniture and stained glass lamps.
Willson and his wife, Helen, pdisplay his art in their apartment at Park Square Manor. He has received numerous awards for his art work and has been recognized at the Indiana State Fair and Hoosier Salon Art Gallery.
Willson was a tool and die maker at Haynes Stellite Works in Kokomo.
He says he enjoyed creating things and seemed to have a knack for visualizing something in his mind and making it with his hands.
Willson served in the U.S. Army during World War II. As a staff sergeant, he spent three years in England and took an active role in The Battle of the Bulge.
He and his wife have three children, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Willson’s work will be displayed from 4 to 6 p.m. June 12 at Park Square Manor. He will be on-site for a meet-and-greet. He is happy to share his stories, show his work, and sign autographs.
