DANVILLE — Hendricks County Senior Services hosts its monthly Vision Loss Support Group at 10:30 a.m. on the third Thursday of each month at the Hendricks County Senior Center. The next meeting is at 10:30 a.m. May 16.
This month’s topic will be “Healthy Eating Habits when Cooking for One.” The presenter will be Carolyn Burdsall, a clinical dietitian and certified diabetes educator at Hendricks Regional Health.
Burdsall earned a bachelor of science degree in dietetics from Ball State University, and completed her internship at Ball Memorial Hospital. She has been with Hendricks Regional Health since 1989.
The support group session should be of benefit to those who have dealt with loss of vision for a period of time as well as those who are just now experiencing the condition. The sessions are designed for the sharing of personal experiences, information about new technology, and the opportunity to hear from guest speakers.
Transportation is available by calling HCSS at 745-4303.
Those who would like to stay for lunch are asked to call the senior center at least 24 hours in advance. Lunch is a suggested $2 donation for seniors ages 60 or older and their spouses.
No reservations are required to participate in the support group and membership in the senior center is not required.
All meetings are confidential, free of charge, and open to all. For more information on this support group or to arrange for lunch or transportation, call HCSS at 745-4303.
