Hendricks County Senior Services hosts a monthly Stroke Support Group on the third Tuesday of each month at the Hendricks County Senior Center. The next meeting is 10:30 a.m. Nov. 19.
The Stroke Support Group is open to anyone who has had a stroke or caring for someone who has had a stroke. The group is free of charge and meetings are confidential.
The group mission is to give survivors and caregivers an opportunity to share their experiences and gain strength and knowledge from others who have been through a similar event.
Whitney Doyle, director of leasing for Traditions at Reagan Park, facilitates the group.
“A stroke can be very isolating — for both the stroke survivor and the caregiver,” she said. “Each stroke survivor faces a unique set of disabilities and losses, and each copes with them in his or her own way. The meetings will help address these issues with survivors and caregivers.”
Transportation is available through HCSS by calling at 745-4303.
Those who would like to stay for lunch at the senior center are asked to call at least 24 hours in advance. Lunch is $2 for seniors ages 60 and older.
New participants are always welcome to the support group and membership in the senior enter is not required.
The Hendricks County Senior Center is at 1201 Sycamore Lane, Danville.
