“From Hendricks County’s Oldest to Hendricks County’s Newest” is the slogan that appears on bibs made by Hendricks County Senior Services volunteers for babies born at Hendricks Regional Health.
Sharon Severy is activities director for the Hendricks County Senior Center.
“For many, many years our volunteers have been making these little bibs, and for years material to make them was donated,” Severy said in a press release. “Those donations have diminished to almost nothing and the cost of purchasing the material is beyond the means of those making the bibs. So we are asking for help from the general public.”
The volunteers make at least 1,000 bibs a year which are presented to new parents to take home in gift bags provided by the hospital.
“We need new, baby-themed flannel material,” Sharon said.
Ribbons are then sewn onto the bibs, along with a small tag that says where they come from. Ribbon material is also needed, preferably not more than a quarter of an inch wide.
Monetary donations may be mailed to HCSS, P.O. Box 448, Danville, IN 46122, or dropped off at the senior center.
