Hendricks County Senior Services hosts a monthly Vision Support Group at 10:30 a.m. on the third Thursday of each month at the Hendricks County Senior Center. The next meeting is 10:30 a.m. April 17.
Support group facilitator Deanne Sanders-Below, an in-home service coordinator at Hendricks County Senior Services, coordinates the meetings.
The support group hopes to be of benefit to those who have dealt with the loss of vision for a period of time as well as those who are just now experiencing the condition.
This month the topic will be on Bosma Connections. Bosma Connections is a call-in activity line for people who are blind or visually impaired. Callers can participate in educational sessions, guest speakers, round table discussions, trivia, brainteasers, storytelling, and more — all related to the over 55 community.
For more information or to register, call 704-8254.
Transportation is available through HCSS by calling 745-4303.
Those who would like to stay for lunch are asked to call 745-4303 at least 24 hours in advance. Lunch is a suggested $2 donation for people ages 60 and older.
No reservations are required to participate in the support group and membership in the senior center is not required. All meetings are confidential and free of charge.
