Although these pension benefits have been around since 1951, Strong said they are very rarely utilized because people simply do not know what is required for them to qualify or how to apply.
For example, it is estimated that 2 million Americans qualify for this particular pension benefit, yet only 143,000 veterans or surviving spouses are currently receiving them.
The workshop is 6 p.m. April 3 at Country Charm, 3177 Meridian Parke Drive, Greenwood; 10 a.m. April 4 at Four Seasons, 1901 Taylor Road, Columbus; and 2 p.m. April 9 at Meadow Lakes, 200 Meadow Lakes Drive, Mooresville.
