---- — Two local students shine at Baylor

Two students from Avon were recently named to the Baylor University dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester.

John Byers, in the Hankamer School of Business, and Sarah Byers, in the College of Arts and Sciences, earned the distinction.

To be eligible for the dean’s list at the school in Waco, Texas, students must carry a 3.7 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours.

Student honored at Akron

Margaret Katter of Indianapolis recently made the dean’s list at the University of Akron for the spring semester. Katter is majoring in dance with business cognate.

To be eligible for the dean’s list, Katter was required to maintain a grade point average of 3.25 or higher and be enrolled in 12 or more credit hours.

BHS alum earns honor

Camille Gentile of Brownsburg was recently named to the dean’s list at Wilmington College for the 2013 spring semester.

Gentile, a junior, is a graduate of Brownsburg High School. To earn a spot on the dean’s list, she was required to maintain at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and be enrolled full-time.

AHS alum on president’s list

Melissa Eades, a 2013 graduate of Franklin College and a ‘09 graduate of Avon High School, was named to the president’s list for the spring semester.

In order to be named to the president’s list, Franklin students must have a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

Eades majored in elementary education with a middle school science endorsement.

BCS grad finding college success

Bree Trapp, daughter of Tony and Barb Trapp of Brownsburg, was recently named to the dean’s list at Cedarville University for the 2013 spring semester.

Trapp, a sophomore at Cedarville and a 2012 Bethesda Christian School graduate, is majoring in worship ministry.

To be named to the CU dean’s list, a student must earn a 3.5 grade point average for the semester and carry at least 12 credit hours.

Avon woman honored

Miriam Thomas, daughter of Ravi Thomas and Kavitha Gunaseelan of Avon, was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester of the 2012-13 school year at Hope College.

To be named to the Hope dean’s list, a student must have a minimum 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Plainfield woman graduates

Allison Holsclaw of Plainfield recently graduated from Bethel College in a ceremony held at the Wiekamp Athletic Center.

Holsclaw was one of 582 students who participated in the school’s two-day commencement.

BHS graduate honored

Nick Lilienthal, son of Gene and Cynthia Lilienthal of Brownsburg, was named to the Bethany Lutheran College dean’s list for the 2012-13 spring semester.

Lilienthal is a 2011 graduate of Brownsburg High School.

In order to be named to the BLC dean’s list, a student must carry at least 14 academic credits and maintain at least a 3.5 grade point average.

Avon woman honored

Milligan College recently named Tori Giblin of Avon to the dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester

Giblin is a sophomore majoring in Bible at MC, located in northeast Tennessee.

The dean’s list recognizes students who earn a grade point average of 3.5 or above for the academic term.

Indianapolis woman makes dean’s list

Renee Hughes of Indianapolis was recently named to the Herkimer County Community College (HCCC) dean’s list for the 2013 semester.

Hughes, studying accounting, was one of 350 students named to the list for earning a grade point average between 3.25 and 3.79. HCCC is a unit of the State University of New York and offers more than 40 associate degree and certificate programs.

Avon woman on dean’s list

Megan Kristen Locke was recently named to the Otterbien University for the spring 2013 semester.

In order to make the dean’s list at OU, located in Westerville, Ohio, she was required to carry at least a 3.6 grade point average.

St. Francis honors two local students

Dr. J. Andrew Prall, vice president of academic affairs of the University of St. Francis, has announced students named to the dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester, including two local students.

Sarah Morton of Lizton, a music technology major, and Brett Stapleton of Brownsburg, a health and exercise science major, were both named to the list for maintaining a 3.5 grade point average on a four-point scale having carried at least 12 credit hours.

Two make GVSU dean’s list

Marvis Herring and Jill Steinmetz, both of Avon, were recently named to the Grand Valley State University (GVSU) dean’s list for the winter 2013 semester ending in April.

In order to be named to the GVSU dean’s list, a student must maintain a 3.5 grade point average and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours. The honor is noted on the students’ official records.

Plainfield woman graduates

Allison Holsclaw recently obtained a bachelor of arts degree from Bethel College in Mishawaka.

Holsclaw was one of 582 graduates honored at commencement ceremonies earlier this year.

Woman makes president’s list

Rachel Jane Furnish of Indianapolis is one of 1,145 students to earn President’s List honors for the spring 2013 semester at Eastern Kentucky University.

Furnish is a junior Homeland Security major at EKU.

The President’s List was established by the university to recognize outstanding academic achievement. It is bestowed upon full-time undergraduate students who attain a perfect 4.0 grade point average for a semester.

Woman makes EKU dean’s list

Megan Ann Winter of Indianapolis is one of 2,749 Eastern Kentucky University students who earned dean’s list honors for the spring 2013 semester.

Winter is a Homeland Security major at EKU.

To achieve dean’s list honors at Eastern, students attempting 14 or more credit hours must earn a 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0. Students attempting 13 credit hours must earn a 3.65 GPA, and students attempting 12 credit hours must earn a 3.75 GPA.

Avon woman graduates from IUK

Bridget Airia Idahosa of Avon was among the 369 Indiana University Kokomo students who earned degrees in December 2012 and May 2013.

The graduates represent 26 Indiana counties and four states. Idahosa received a bachelor of science degree in nursing.

Plainfield man on dean’s list

Sean M. Williams of Plainfield, son of Daniel and Joan Williams, was recently named to the Wittenberg University dean’s list for the spring semester.

In order to be named to the WU dean’s list, Williams was required to maintain a 3.5 or higher grade point average for the semester.

Local man graduates from Marquette

Kevin Kroeger of Indianapolis graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis.

Kroeger earned a bachelor of science degree in business economics.

He was one of nearly 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students who participated in the spring graduation ceremony at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee.

Two locals graduate from Manchester

Jessica L. Stafford of Avon and Dylan P. Alltop of Clayton recently graduated from Manchester University in North Manchester.

Stafford graduated cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in psychology and a minor in gerontology and business. She is a Poway High School alum.

Alltop earned a bachelor of science degree in management with a minor in finance economics. He is a Cascade High School alum.

Both were honored at a ceremony earlier this year.

Plainfield woman graduates from Utica

Laura A. Hill of Plainfield recently graduated from Utica College in Utica, N.Y.

She received a bachelor of arts degree in economic crime and fraud management.

Melissa Eades, a 2013 graduate of Franklin College, was named to the president’s list for the spring semester.

In order to be named to the president’s list, Franklin students must have a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

Eades majored in elementary education with a middle school science endorsement and is a 2009 graduate of Avon High School.
