— Laurie Johnson was named principal of Brownsburg West Middle School (BWMS) after approval by the Brownsburg Community School Corporation (BCSC) board at its June 10 meeting.
Johnson has served as the assistant principal of Brownsburg West Middle School since 2011. Prior to joining BCSC, she was a language arts department chair and an instructional coach for Wayne Township Schools.
BWMS is one of six BCSC schools that recently received a 4-star rating from the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE), an honor it has received for three straight years. All BCSC schools have also received an “A” rating from the IDOE.
“It’s going to be exciting to lead a school that has such phenomenal students, parents, and teachers,” Johnson said in a press release. “I’m looking forward to building a collaborative leadership team and watching our students flourish.”
Johnson will assume the role of principal at BWMS immediately. Former principal Jeff Hubble has accepted a position as the assistant superintendent for Greencastle Community Schools.
