Church choirs hold special service
All in the community are invited to a Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. April 17 at Speedway Christian Church.
The choirs of Speedway and Westview Christian churches will combine for a moving presentation of “Tenebrae: A Service of Darkness.”
Speedway Christian Church is at 5110 W. 14th St.
The tradition of Tenebrae services dates back to the eighth century. The service transitions from light to darkness to dramatize the suffering, death and burial of Jesus Christ. Such services are a preparation for the joy Christians celebrate on Easter Sunday.
