Donald J. Thompson of Plainfield

Donald J. Thompson of Plainfield died Saturday in IU Health West. He was 78.

Born on Dec. 19, 1934 in Milan, he was the son of Earl and Katherine Plump Thompson. He married Arvilla Walls on April 19, 1958, and she survives.

Mr. Thompson was an Army veteran. He was a specifications clerk for Uniroyal for 21 years and retired from Allison Transmission in 1999 after 22 years. His memberships included Calvary Bible Wesleyan Church in Plainfield.

Also surviving are children Donna Thompson Briney and husband Bob, Keith Thompson and wife Sarah, and Cindy Thompson Pedigo and husband John; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are 1 p.m. Feb. 15 in Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, with the Rev. Don Delong officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield. Calling is for two hours prior to services in the funeral home.
