Lillie Maren Hardin

Lillie Maren Hardin died Nov. 5. She was 91.

Born Aug. 28, 1921, she was the daughter of Samuel Leon Stine and Sine Moller Stine. She married John D. Hardin Sr. May 9, 1941. He died in 2004.

Mrs. Hardin was a 1940 graduate of Ben Davis High School. She attended Indiana Central College.

She was a homemaker and a 50-year member of the Ben Davis Homemakers Club, serving as president many times. She was involved with Marion County 4-H programs from her youth through the 1980s as a member, parent, leader, and host mother for international farm youth exchange students. She also served as president of the Ben Davis High School PTA and the Indiana Association of Soil and Water Conservation District Ladies Auxiliary. Her memberships included the Bridgeport Eastern Star and Danville Christian Church.

Survivors include a son, John D. Hardin Jr. and wife Vicki of Danville; a daughter, Jeanette Schollenberger and husband Don of Grand Haven, Mich.; grandchildren David (Danielle) Hardin of Avon, Carrie (David) Woodruff of Westfield, Anne (Brian) Stegemoller of Brownsburg, and Scott (Cara) Klockow of Kouts; great-grandchildren Andrew, Ashley, and Luke Woodruff, Dean, Davis, Devan, and Daphne Hardin, and Yohanna Klockow; a brother, Raymond (Pat) Stine of Wingate; and a sister, Mary (Floyd) Kesler of Lafayette.

A daughter, Nidrah Jane Hardin, and a great-granddaughter, Nessa May Klockow, preceded her in death.

Services are 10 a.m. Thursday in Peace Chapel at Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis. Calling is 4-8 p.m. Nov. 7 in Conkle Funeral Home, Avon.

Memorials may be made to the John D. Hardin Sr. and Lillie M. Hardin 4-H Scholarship-Purdue Foundation.
