Mary McDonald Schwanekamp (Luce) of Brownsburg

Mary McDonald Schwanekamp (Luce) of Brownsburg died Sunday at St. Vincent Hospital. She was 32.

Born May 10, 1981, in Lafayette, she was the daughter of Wayne and Patti Luce. She married Brent Schwanekamp on July 3, 2004, at St. Christopher's Church in Speedway. He survives.

Mrs. Schwanekamp graduated from R. Nelson Snider High School, Ft. Wayne, in the class of 1999. Before pursuing a career in medical sonography, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from Kettering College of Medical Arts in 2002 and graduated Magna Cum Laude from IUPUI with a degree in health services management in 2004. She went on to work at St. Vincent Women’s Hospital in the Maternal Fetal Medicine Department from 2002-13.

Her memberships included St. Christopher's Church.

Also surviving is a son, Scott Schwanekamp; her parents, Wayne Tanner and Patti Luce of Ft. Wayne; her grandmother, Patricia Luce of Cincinnati; her brother Patrick (Abbey) Luce of Ft. Wayne; six nieces; and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Wayne Livingston Luce, David McDonald, and Martha McDonald Anderson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted 11 a.m. Aug. 30 at St. Christopher's Catholic Church, 5301 W. 16th St., Speedway. Burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. Visitation is 4-9 p.m. Aug. 29 at Steven Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th St., Indianapolis.
