Ross Edward “Snuffy” Gillespie of Danville died March 26. He was 96.

Born Sept. 11, 1917, he was the son of the late Wade Wesley and Iva May (Smith) Gillespie. He married Alberta Louise Swartz on Sept. 2, 1936, in Muncie. She survives and they were married for 77 years.

Mr. Gillespie was the conductor for the former New York Central Railroad, which is now Conrail, for 36 years retiring from 1978.

He was a member of the West Lake Church of God.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Wesley (Marsha) Gillespie of Danville, James (Jean) Gillespie of Sadieville, Ky., and Terry (Mary Jo) Gillespie of Danville; six grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 4 p.m. March 31 in Weaver & Randolph Funeral Home Danville.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until time of service in the funeral home.
