Thelma Jean Brinkman of Avon died March 12. She was 75.
Born Feb. 21, 1939, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of the late Wayne and Elma Wilson. She married Jerry Brinkman and he survives. They were married for 57 years.
Mrs. Brinkman was a member of Ben Davis Christian Church and a former member of Avon Christian Church. She was an active community volunteer and had founded the Women’s Auxiliary for the Avon Volunteer Fire Department.
She retired from the Avon Community School Corporation after 26 years of service.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by son, Gary (Tammy) Brinkman; daughters, Sherri (Marty) Engel and Cindy (Doug) Wagner; sister, Sharon Wilson Hill; brother, Curt (Susan) Wilson; grandchildren, Megan Eakin, Jessica Smith, Chad Brinkman, David Engel, Evan and Emily Wagner; and great grandchild, Clark Eakin.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. March 17 in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. March 16 in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Indiana Chapter.
