Troy A. Hoffman of Plainfied died Monday in his brother's Madison, Ind., home. He was 51.

Born Dec. 18, 1961, in Madison, he was the son of Matthew Joseph Jr. and Lena Kruse Hoffman. He married Lori A. Smock and she survives.

Mr. Hoffman was a 1980 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School and attended the John Herron School of Art in Indianapolis. He resided in Plainfield from 1982 until returning to Madison in 2013 to be closer to his family.

Mr. Hoffman had worked for Silgan Plastics in Plainfield the past three years as a machine operator. He also was self-employed with Hoffman Signs and Wood Working. In 1995 he designed, constructed, and installed the Play Ground For All Children sign on the state hospital grounds. His memberships included Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Madison.

Also surviving are his mother, Lena Kruse Hoffman; a daughter, Hannah Noel Hoffman of Plainfield; a son, Hunter William Hoffman of Plainfield; four brothers, William Terry Hoffman of Madison, Matthew "Tim" Hoffman III and wife Harriet of Madison, Neal Thomas Hoffman and wife Pam of Brownsburg, and John Theodore "Ted" Hoffman and wife Bev of Greenwood; a sister, Tracey Boling and husband Victor of Mt. Washington, Ky.; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

Preceding him in death were his father and a brother, Mark Anthony "Tony" Hoffman.

Services are 11 a.m. Oct. 25 in Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive, Madison, with Pastor Mike McArter officiating. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Oct. 24 and 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to pancreatic cancer research. Cards will be available at the funeral home.
