Alta Voneal Huffman of Pittsboro died Wednesday. She was 96.

Born Feb. 17, 1916, in Boone County, she was a daughter of the late Arta and Lula (Scott) Dinsmore. She married Carroll D. Huffman in Boone County in 1935, and he died July 10, 1999.

Mrs. Huffman worked as a clerk at Worrell Grocery in Pittsboro, in the meat department at Knezters Market in Pittsboro, and 13 years as a custodian at the Hendricks County Community Building in Danville.

Survivors include daughters Marlilyn Brady and Rita Obenchain and husband Kent of Brownsburg; grandsons Larry, Jerry and wife Lisa, and Gary and wife Sharron; four great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were Thursday at the K of P Cemetery.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at David A. Hall Mortuary, 220 N. Maple St., Pittsboro.
