Joe L. Oursler formerly of Danville died April 4 in Battle Creek, Mich. He was 77.
Born Aug. 17, 1936, in Attica, he was the son of the late Maurice and Virginia (Timmons) Oursler. He married Beverly Oursler and she survives.
Mr. Oursler graduated from Wiliamsport High School in 1954. He earned his master’s degree in education at Indiana State University. He was a math teacher at Danville Community Middle School for 38 years retiring in 1997.
When time permitted, Mr. Oursler enjoyed playing golf and was an avid Cubs fan. He was also a member of American Legion Post 118 and the Masonic Lodge 26 of Danville.
He and his wife attended Danville Friends Church for 50 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Lisa (Brad) DeHart of Battle Creek, Mich.; two granddaughters, Megan and Rachel; and a brother, Jackie Oursler.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carrie Jo Oursler.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. April 10 in Weaver & Randolph Funeral Home in Danville. Burial will be in Danville South Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. April 9 in the funeral home.
