Clara Belle McCoy Ferguson of Plainfield died Oct. 19 at Avon Health and Rehab Center in Avon. She was 102.
Born Aug. 9, 1910, in Boone County, she was a daughter of the late Oscar Emil and Sarah Jane Elizabeth (Hypes) McCoy. She married Paul Ferguson in Greenwood on June 24, 1945, and he died March 17, 1979.
Mrs. Ferguson graduated from Lebanon High School in 1929. Bookkeeping was one of her best subjects, and it became her lifelong occupation. She worked more than 47 years for several General Motors car dealerships in Lebanon and Indianapolis.
She and her husband moved from Indianapolis to Plainfield in 1951. They were married for 33 years.
She was active in Plainfield Christian Church and served as a volunteer in the office after she retired.
Though she had no children of her own, she was blessed with an "adopted" son, Tim (Beth) Gephart of Plainfield, and an "adopted" daughter, Christine (Craig) Kessler of Frankfort, Ky. She is also survived by three granddaughters, a grandson, and a great-grandson.
Preceding her in death were four sisters and a brother.
Services were Sunday at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. A private graveside service followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
