Phillip D. Lofton


— Phillip D. Lofton died Feb. 26 at his Danville home. He was 64.

Born July 5, 1948, in Cardwell, Mo., he was a son of the late Ray Lofton and Dortha Jackson Lofton Hilderbrand. He married Wanda McCoy Summerlot on Dec. 17, 1997, and she survives.

Mr. Lofton worked more than 41 years for Conrail/CSX railroad, retiring in 2008.

He was a member of the Plainfield Eagles No. 3207 and the Danville American Legion No. 118. He enjoyed crappie fishing, tending his garden, and Indianapolis Colts football.

Survivors include children Bart (Heather) Lofton, Brady (Suzan) Lofton, Tonya (Randy) Summerlot Rogers, and Robert (Pam) Summerlot; a brother, Terry (Rose) Hilderbrand; grandchildren Adam, Carson, Bailey, Corbin, Royce, and Olivia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were three brothers and a sister.

A memorial open house will be from 4 to 8 p.m. March 14 at the Plainfield Eagles.
