Velda S. May Goad died unexpectedly Saturday at her Plainfield home. She was 55.

Born May 14, 1957, in Martinsville, she was a daughter of Charles M. and Alice I. Stacey Scroughams.

She worked as a heavy equipment operator engineer for Local Union 841.

She attended the Plainfield Christian Church and was a talented seamstress.

Survivors include her father, Charles Scroughams; brothers Joe and Michael Scroughams; and a sister, Sharlotte Chapman.

Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Hall-Baker Funeral Home in Plainfield with the Rev. Steve White officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Plainfield.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
