Bertha L. Merritt died Sunday at Hendricks Regional Health in Danville. She was 94.
Born Dec. 24, 1918, in Fountaintown, she was a daughter of the late Elmer L. and Ollie Mae (Keaton) Rafferty. She married Woodrow Merritt on Nov. 11, 1939, in Fredericksburg, and he preceded her in death.
Mrs. Merritt was a farmer and a homemaker.
She was a member of Pittsboro Christian Church.
Survivors include a son, Donald (Phyllis) Merritt; daughters Marsha (the late Joe) Franks, Connie (Paul) Brasher, and Donna (Ray) Stucker; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were a daughter, Betty Sue Merritt, and sisters Pansy Hart and Roseanna Rose.
Private graveside service will be at the K of P Cemetery in Lizton.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the David A. Hall Mortuary, 220 N. Maple St., Pittsboro.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
